![]() System Shock 1 is heavily player-focused, with an emphasis on exploration and problem solving without excessive hand-holding. Most fans love both games, but don't necessarily see the second as being superior in every way - instead, the two are very different, and each has unique strengths and appeals. Quite a few people - myself included - feel that such a complete genre shift wouldn't detract from the game rather than improve it. One thing that's cropped up in various places (including in the stretch goals) is talk of adding RPG elements, and of making the remake play more like System Shock 2 than the original System Shock. There are two main points that I'm going to touch on fairly briefly: 1) RPG elements and SS2 gameplay Quite a few people in various places seem to be sceptical about the project because of some of the things that have been said or implied by Night Dive, either in the demo, on the Kickstarter page, or on other social media - some to the point of being unsure if they should back it or outright certain that they shouldn't. The goal and vision of the remake seems to deviate a lot from the original game. ![]()
